Each of these videos shows the same navigation path through the dataset, but with a different visual form and a different animation transition method. Each video is available in AVI (XviD) format and PDF (Acrobat 5 or higher) format.

Clearly the NoAnimation is the worst - there is no context to any of the static displays or any of the transitions.

The AddThenGrow-Appear is next best - the child nodes appear suddenly, but are subsequently animated to their final configurations.

The AddThenGrow-Insert is next best - the child nodes are smoothly animated from start to finish - but there is still no context to any of the individual static displays.

The BarExplorer is likely to be the best - the child nodes are smoothly animated alongside their predecessors, including tethers to their parent node. A version of this animated navigation for the Wedge visual form is work-in-progress.
