Slade, enough of this bullshit. I am directly accusing you of these things, do you deny them or not? You have:

Answer the questions for once. And answer them honestly, if you're man enough to do so. The whole world ain't out to get you, but by all that is sacred I swear it's true, you have managed to piss off the major developers of every other single project based on the Quake source that I know of. And as I found out only today, you managed to piss off people in projects I _didn't_ know of as well!

Your whole tactic here seems to be finding a way to bullshit your way around the GPL. And you not only want to do this with Id Software's code, but with our code too. Well guess what?

The moment you use anything that we've done, we have stake in the Copyright on your code. Which means if you don't follow the GPL's terms, there is something we can do about it. And you've already pissed us off, so don't be surprised if you get sued by any number of people for Copyright infringement.

If you want to continue to jerk us all around like this, go ahead. But you'd damned well better stay clear of anything we do in our various projects. And you'd also better hope that John believes your lies indefinitely because Id Software can exercise their Copyright any time they want for the next 87 years. Frankly, you're not a good enough liar to keep it up that long---but you're welcome to try.

I can already envision a QuakeLives 10.0 with a claim that you're already GPL compliant because the release is just binary strings which are legal just like software cracks are... (As for the legality of such things, http://www.ladas.com/NII/CopyrightInfringement.html#con talks about contributary Copyright infringement, which cracks are..)

There will undoubtedly be a promise somewhere that the next release of QL will be "more GPL friendly".

I'm sorry to be adding yet another email on this subject to your mailbox John, but it seems lots of people are doing so (I do admit I did say they probably should so it was clear the things I sent you were not isolated nor were they a single instance.. This problem is far-reaching and ongoing.) I hope you are offended that after you yourself told Slade that QL is violating the GPL he continues to claim he isn't and has even taken swipes at your claims to the source which is, in our collective opinion, absolute.

He's no longer telling people that the next version will have full source, instead he's telling people that he doesn't have to release source and justifying that with a lot of "maybe I have permission", "maybe I have a license John doesn't know about", and the like.

If allowed to continue, he'll just continue to claim he isn't bound to the same rules we are. We know he will use our code eventually, he probably has already. When he does use something obviously not his and pulls this crap, we will defend the Copyright on our part of the code. Still, that will take time and his actions are already harming the free software and gaming communities.

(All of this grief caused by a self-proclaimed Linux kernel hacker whose name isn't in the credits and didn't know who "RMS" was.. *chuckle*)

Your mother would have washed your mouth out with soap.

Please refrain from communicating with me anymore until you can do it in a nonderogitory manner.

Evade, evade, evade.

You're obviously afraid to answer my accusations.

Please forward any additional email on this subject from you or anyone else who is unable to deal with such issues in a nonselfish and constructive matter, to bill@microsoft.com or the nearest trash recepticle. I do not have enough hours in the day to bother with such things. Perhaps they do.

Further email sent in this manner will be considered spam, and ignored. Just like God intended it to be.
